Nancy White Cassidy is an American acrylic and mixed-media artist whose work explores memory, spirituality, environmental stewardship, and social justice through richly textured surfaces and symbolic imagery. Working primarily on panel, she creates layered compositions using molding paste, metal leaf, collage, acrylic paint, and found objects. Her distinctive visual language combines elements of abstraction, storytelling, and material experimentation, inviting viewers to engage with both the physical surface and the deeper narratives embedded within it.

Cassidy earned her Master of Fine Arts degree from Western Connecticut State University and has spent decades teaching art throughout New England and New York City. In addition to her work in schools and educational programs, she was private art tutor to comedian Joan Rivers. Earlier in her career, she worked as an illustrator of educational materials for children, an experience that continues to inform her interest in visual communication, symbolism, and narrative structure.

A profound period of personal transformation led Cassidy to the study of astrology and spiritual traditions, which became significant influences on her artistic practice. Drawing upon spiritual inquiry, intuitive insight, and vivid personal experiences, she creates work that reflects on humanity's relationship to the natural world and to one another. Her paintings frequently address contemporary concerns, including environmental degradation, threats to women's rights, and the social responsibilities shared across communities. While confronting difficult subjects, her work seeks to inspire hope, resilience, and meaningful action.

Central to Cassidy's artistic vision is an enduring connection to family history. Many of her recurring motifs are inspired by the fabrics, patterns, and handmade materials of her childhood. These references honor her mother and aunts, whose creativity, resourcefulness, and sewing skills helped sustain their families through challenging times. By incorporating layered textures, fragments, and tactile materials, Cassidy transforms personal memory into broader reflections on inheritance, survival, and collective experience.

Through the fusion of contemporary mixed-media techniques and deeply personal symbolism, Cassidy creates works that bridge the intimate and the universal.
